Chesham United is delighted to announce plans for Non-League Day on Saturday 7th October when we play host to Royston Town in the Southern League Premier.
The club will be circulating hundreds of FREE TICKETS to the youngster of Chesham via local schools, youth and sport clubs, and to make it affordable for parents to attend the match as well, admission on the day will be PAY WHATEVER YOU WANT. Yes, you read that right – No set entrance fee and no minimum charge either. All we ask is that every adult attending the game does make a contribution, but if you decide that is only going to be a pound or two, then that is fine, equally, if you think the visit warrants a £10, £20 or even £50 contribution, we won’t turn you away! (Normal admission fee is Adults – £10, Concessions (over 65s, students with ID) – £8, Under 18s – £3, U12s free when accompanied by an adult or concession otherwise £3).
Non-League Day was set up by James Doe in 2010 as a social media experiment, after being inspired by a pre-season trip to Devon to watch Queens Park Rangers play at Tavistock. It has now grown to become an annual part of the football calendar, backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, MPs, celebrities, media organisations, charities and most importantly the non-league clubs themselves and the fans who turn up on the day.
Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non-League Day provides a platform for clubs to promote the importance of affordable volunteer led community football while giving fans across the country the chance to show support for their local non-league side.
Chairman Brian McCarthy announced: “We are delighted to be able to participate in the celebrations of Non-League Day by encouraging more and more of the local community along to the club to see what goes on at a football match in Chesham, enjoying the unique atmosphere of non-league football and hopefully impressed with the facilities we enjoy at The Meadow. My thanks go out to the supporters and members of the youth and ladies section that are helping to make this happen – I look forward to welcoming existing, and hopefully many new, supporters to the game.”
